FAQ & troubleshooting
The basics
Is there a free version? No — Silico runs real compute and prices it honestly. The $5 Pilot (500 credits that never expire) is the lowest-cost way to try everything. If you upgrade within 14 days, the $5 applies to your first month.
Do I have to pick which AI model to use? No. Silico automatically routes each part of your task to the best-suited model. You can set the orchestrator model and choose Default vs Max for sub-agents if you want more control over cost and quality — but you never have to.
Why does my task use several different models? Because different steps have different needs. Silico picks the cheapest model that's good enough for each step — a top model for hard reasoning, a fast cheap one for routine parts. Expand a sub-agent's Routing section to see the reasoning.
Working with results
Where do my files go? Every deliverable appears as a card in the conversation — preview, download, or share it. The full workspace, including working files, is in the Files panel on the right. Each thread keeps its files between messages.
Can I share my work? Yes — click Share on any file to get a public link anyone can open (no login needed). Sharing is per-file, and links are public and unlisted, so only share what you're comfortable making public. There's currently no conversation-level sharing.
Can I keep working on something across days? Yes. Stay in the same thread and its workspace persists. Very old, inactive threads may archive their workspace (shown as Static); opening one starts a fresh sandbox.
Cost & billing
How do I know what something cost? Every reply shows a receipt: real compute cost, what you were charged, and your remaining balance. Each sub-agent shows its own cost too.
What uses credits? Any real work the agent does. The charge is real compute cost × your plan's markup, rounded up to whole credits (minimum 1). Web-search and connected-tool fees are included in that total.
What happens if I run out of credits? Tasks pause with a prompt to top up or upgrade. Buy a top-up (from $5, never expires) or change plans and you're back — nothing is lost.
Do unused credits roll over? Monthly subscription credits refresh each month (they don't stack). Purchased top-up credits never expire.
Tools, automations & safety
How do I let the agent use my other apps? Open Connected servers (plug icon) and connect from the catalog or add your own. Reads run automatically; anything that writes asks for your approval first. See Connect your tools.
Can Silico run tasks on a schedule? Yes — create an Automation and give it a schedule, webhook, or email trigger. Runs appear in Activity. See Automations & background jobs.
Will an agent do something irreversible without asking? No. Risky or outward-facing actions pause for your approval by default. You can opt a trusted automation into autonomous mode to skip those prompts — but spend limits, stall detection, and unknown-tool checks stay on, and everything is logged. See Approvals & autonomous mode.
Can I stop or redirect a job that's already running? Yes. Hit Stop in chat, or for a background job, send guidance (it applies at the next checkpoint) or switch it back to requiring approvals. You can also raise a paused job's spend cap to let it continue.
Something's not working
A connected tool shows "unreachable." Open Connectors and click Reconnect; if it persists, the service credential may have expired — delete and re-add it.
My task paused unexpectedly. Check Activity — it's likely waiting for approval (expand and Approve/Reject) or hit a spend cap (raise it to continue).
I still need help. Reach out to support and include the thread or job link — the share/deep link makes it fast for us to see exactly what you saw.
